Pure Torture by Tania Sparks

Pure Torture (Oblivion on Tour, #3)Pure Torture by Tania Sparks
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

"What happens on tour stays on tour" is the perfect motto for this rockin' romance. Nikki's lil sister Kitty always had a crush on the drummer Cody. Now that's she's grown and looking as hot as ever Cody can't help but want her. Tania Sparks takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of emotions with the band Oblivion as Cody and Kitty figure out what is the relationship between them.

Cody is like the stereotypical rock star. He never sleeps with a woman more than once. He can't even keep up with their names! I think it surprises everyone when they see Cody and Kitty making out lol! I'm more surprised that her brother Nikki didn't put up an even bigger fight for her. What starts out as a one night stand soon becomes much more.

I'm rating Pure Torture a 3.5 out of 5 stars. If you like a lot of sex with a bit of kinky in it then you'll like this! At first it's like Cody and Kitty can't keep their hands off each other lol. I would've liked to have seen more drama in the first half of the book. I mean her brother doesn't seem bothered by knowing his little sister is having wild sex with his friend. I would've liked to see more tension between them. I also wish Cody could've fought off his lust for her more than he did. Best friend's little sister is forbidden fruit and liable to end a friendship. This was a good read with lots of sex, drugs (ok maybe not too much of those) and rock n roll!!

Island Kisses by Krista Lakes

Island Kisses: A Billionaire Love Story (The Kisses Series Book 9)Island Kisses: A Billionaire Love Story by Krista Lakes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great contemporary romance from Krista Lakes! Island Kisses is about a young blogger named Harper who writes about her experiences with bad dates. Her sister signs her up for a dating site guaranteed to make the perfect match. What will she blog about when she meets Gabe - the best date ever?

One thing that stood out in this book for me is Harper's mom. She is just like my mom LOL! I'm already married but if I wasn't I just know my mom would be desperate to see me hitched and have grand babies for her. It's her mom's constant worrying that is so like my mom. This is why I was able to relate to Harper and her family.

I'm rating Island Kisses a 5 out of 5 stars. Gabe is the funnest and hottest billionaire! Not only does he know how to be a fun date but he really knows how to spoil a girl. As a football fan myself (Go Packers!!) I'd be ecstatic if someone got me box seats to a game and surprised me with a jersey. Don't even get me started on his mansion LOL!

The Thief Steals her Earl by Christina McKnight

The Thief Steals Her EarlThe Thief Steals Her Earl by Christina McKnight
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jude and Cart's story is such a delight! So refreshing to see the hero shy, socially awkward and not super wealthy. I love it!! I usually like my heroes strong, carefree, and alpha male. However I really liked Cart, he's like a breath of fresh air compared to most of the men I meet in romance novels. Perhaps it's because I too like Cart am socially awkward and like him would rather spend my day at a museum than a high society tea.

With a shared interest in art and historical artifacts, Cart and Jude have much in common. I love how their love of history and learning is what attracts one to the other. He'd be considered a nerd by today's standards but a very attractive one!

I'm rating this book a 5 out of 5 stars. Ms. McKnight has me itching to read everyone's story - Theo, Garrett, and Jude's twin sister Sam especially! This is definitely one of the best books I've read this summer.

The best parts are when Jude and Cart are together. My favorite part is when they first meet and he ends up falling in the mud and water (something I could see myself doing LOL!) He turns around expecting her to have left with the others and she's still there for him. Love it!

Saving Sarah by Kathy Ivan

Saving Sarah (Susan Stoker's Special Forces)Saving Sarah by Kathy Ivan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Anna goes missing during spring break while in New Orleans and now her sister, Sarah is on the hunt looking for her. Sarah enlists the help of Ranger and his SEAL buddies to help. This story captured my attention from the very first page! I couldn't put the book down until it was finished.

Reminiscent of Natalee Holloway's story, I wish her story could have a happy ending as this one did for Anna and Sarah. Using the best resources and people in the field, it's no surprise they are going to find Anna and the ones responsible for her disappearance. I enjoyed watching Ranger and Sarah's working relationship develop into something more personal even if it is under bad circumstances.

I'm rating Saving Sarah a 5 out of 5 stars. I found myself more intrigued by the sister's disappearance and finding the guys who took her than I was with the growing attraction between Sarah and Ranger. The romance bit is like added bonus to the mystery!

An Improper Governess Blog Tour and Giveaway

An Improper Governess
An Improper Liaisons Novella, Book 2
By
Amy Rose Bennett
Blog Tour
Lusting after one’s employer is certainly not the done thing when you are a governess. But Miss Abigail Adams cannot seem to help herself...
Abigail Adams, the resident governess of Hartfield Hall, might appear to be a very proper young woman, yet she secretly yearns for excitement to brighten her mundane life. And what she does want, she really shouldn’t long for—Sir Nicholas Barsby, the indecently handsome, charismatic master of Hartfield.
Sir Nicholas Barsby returns home from a tour of the Continent to discover his widowed sister-in-law has employed a decidedly delectable governess for his nieces. When it becomes blatantly apparent that the attraction is mutual, Nicholas ruthlessly decides to present Miss Adams with a thoroughly wicked proposal.
Abigail is initially shocked by Sir Nicholas’s outrageous and highly improper offer to become his mistress. Having wanton thoughts about a man is undoubtedly sinful but leading the life of a fallen woman is something else entirely. Nevertheless, falling into Sir Nicholas’s arms might just prove to be an invitation too tempting for Abigail to ignore. One thing is clear, whether she’s a governess or mistress, she must not lose her heart...
Release Date: July 15, 2016
Length: Long novella (45000 words)
Heat Level: Hot. This story is an erotic Regency romance and contains frequent love-making scenes and sexual language.
Additional information: This novella can be read as a stand-alone but is part of a loosely linked series.
By the time she reached the stile, Abigail was gasping like a landed carp. As she gathered her skirts preparing to climb over, thunder clapped so close, she shrieked. A bright bolt of lightning lit the air around her and she swore she could feel her hair stand on end. Ignoring all dictates of decorum, she hoisted her skirts even higher and clambered up and over the rough wooden steps. However, as she jumped down, the muslin snagged on something and she found she was tethered like a nanny goat, her skirts caught up about her waist.
“Damn!” Without thought, the coarse expletive escaped her. Not only was she about to get caught in a storm she’d probably ruined her best day gown. Could this day get any worse?
“Damn indeed.”
It seemed it could.
Abigail whipped her head around and found herself staring up into the face of the most handsome man she had ever seen. Raven-haired with slashing brows and chiseled features, he sat astride a glossy black gelding with the confidence of a knight-errant, but alas, not the gallantry. As his deep blue eyes raked over her naked thighs and lower to her stockings, his expression was a mixture of sardonic amusement and a darker, heavier emotion she had no trouble recognizing at all—male lust.
“May I be of assistance, dear lady?” he asked, his voice a rich rumbling purr.
Abigail’s face burned as she attempted to wrench her dress and fine cambric petticoats down all by herself. The distinct rip of fabric tearing made her wince. “You might avert your gaze, sir,” she snapped as hot outrage and mortification made her sound more like a harpy than a damsel in distress.
“Yes, I might. But then, that would not be of much help to you now, would it?” Before Abigail could even think to protest further, the ill-mannered stranger slid from his mount and within moments, had released the stubborn snag.
“There,” he said with a wide smile that was probably supposed to be rakishly appealing. “The fair maiden is free.”
“I could have managed on my own,” she retorted. She wasn’t going to thank the man, not when he’d been eyeing her lower body like a hungry beast of prey sizing up its next meal. Dear God, I hope he did not see my bottom, or worse, my—
Another crack of thunder made her start and the man glanced at the menacing sky. Lightning streaked above the dense copse of trees hiding Hartfield Hall from view. As he mounted his restive horse, a sharp gust caught his black traveling cloak and it flapped about him like the dark wings of a fallen angel.
Perhaps even Lucifer himself. “Where are you going, Miss...?” he asked, his compelling blue gaze locking with hers again. “I really don’t think you should be wandering about the countryside in this tempest. In fact, it would be quite foolish if not altogether mad. I must insist you come with me.” He held out his gloved hand.

An avid reader with a particular love for historical romance, it seemed only natural to write stories in her favorite genre. She has a passion for creating emotion-packed—and sometimes a little racy—stories set in the Georgian and Regency periods. The Accidental Slave by Elin Peer

The Accidental Slave: (Aya's Story) The Slave series Book 1The Accidental Slave: (Aya's Story) The Slave series Book 1 by Elin Peer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

They met during wartime in the middle east where men still take slaves. Helping former slaves, Aya wasn't expecting to be captured by Masi warriors while working for a charity organization. Emotional and dark, Elin Peer does a beautiful job of telling one young woman's struggle to overcome the abuse and hardship she endured while in the middle east.

Kato and Aya develop an unlikely relationship. You see, Kato is a Masi warrior living with his brother who chooses to kidnap Norwegian Aya. Even though they come from different sides of the war Kato and Aya form a a loving bond. Being her captor and savior, Kato shows he has true feelings for Aya.

One thing that stood out to me is the 2 worlds Kato lives in. He is introduced to us as a soldier fighting for the Masi living in a small run down apartment in a war torn town. He barely had any money or food in his apartment. Yet after he escapes, we see he actually lives a very nice upper class life in London.

I'm rating An Accidental Slave a 4 out of 5 stars. I found this book hard to put down because the end of every chapter left me wanting to know what happens next. I remember writing a short note to the author while I was reading the first part of the story because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to finish the violent scenes but luckily Kato came to our rescue just in time LOL!

Yes this is a dark and sometimes violent book. I am happy to say I really enjoyed it! Most of the R rated scenes are in the first 3rd to half of the book. While I normally don't read very many dark emotional books I'm very happy the author sent this story for me to read. Thank you :)

Want to go looking for sapphires in a new country? Well come along and read A Beauty Refined! Phoebe joins her father as they travel to America to start a business in dealing sapphires. However, sapphires aren't the only thing Phoebe will find. A clean, sweet, historical romance story of finding the truth and love.

Phoebe is definitely what you'd call a "daddy's girl" - I'm not going to deny it I am one too lol! Can you imagine her shock when finding out everything you thought you knew about your parents was a lie? I'd be devastated just as she was! Not only that but her father has more nefarious plans for her. Phoebe must rely on her faith in God to be strong and overcome the evil in her life.

I'm rating A Beauty Refined a 4 out of 5 stars. This is a very touching story that will open your eyes to see that not everything is as it appears. Sometimes it takes a different perspective from someone else to see the truth. I liked how I was able to connect with Phoebe.

Stolen by the Laird by Eliza Knight

Stolen by the Laird (Conquered Bride, #4)Stolen by the Laird by Eliza Knight
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Transported to the Scottish highlands where the Scottish and English are at war, Lady Guinevere and the enemy, Brody are also fighting a battle against their growing attraction to each other. In the 4th book of the Conquered Brides series, Eliza Knight writes an enticing tale that leaves the reader wanting a brute like Brody for their own!

In most of the books I read it's the females that I like the most. However in this story, Brody is my favorite. He's my new Scottish book boyfriend lol. Because of a past tragedy, he blames himself for the loss of his loved ones. I like it when the hero isn't perfect and is fighting his own demons.

I'm rating Stolen by the Laird a 5 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed reading the correspondence Brody and Guinevere shared which ignited their spark of love. The writing and dialogue is spot-on. It's not any wonder Eliza Knight is a USA Today bestselling author.

Review of Ask Me Why by Nessie Wallace

Ask Me Why (Why Series #2)Ask Me Why by Nessie Wallace
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In the 2nd book of the Why Series, the reader discovers Ramie and Bryan's love story and the hardships in their lives. They seem to be so perfect for each other. Whenever Ramie is in trouble Bryan is there to help and when he is confronted by people in his past she is there to show him love. There is no doubt they are soul mates.

Being harassed and chased by a creep, Ramie has no interest in losing her virginity to the person she is running from. Abused and beaten as a child, Bryan must learn how to heal and come to terms with the past. It leads him to reuniting with family who he lost during a time he needed them the most.

I'm rating Ask Me Why a 4 out of 5 stars. Getting to know the characters and watching them grow up from the negativity in their past makes me feel like a close friend. I was deeply saddened when reading about Bryan's past and the abuse he endured. No child should have to live in that environment.

Review of The Season by Jonah Lisa Dyer and Stephen Dyer

The SeasonThe Season by Jonah Lisa Dyer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fun read!! The Season had me howling with laughter and enjoying Megan's antics through the whole story :) The cover is really cute and playful too! Reminiscent of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, this story has a modern Texas twist to it.

As a native Texan and Dallasite I love that the story takes place in my hometown. I couldn't believe Jerry Jeff Walker's Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother song was playing at Megan's party by a chamber orchestra- can you imagine? I'd love to see that lol! Oh how I wish I would've been there.

I love the way the author adapted the classic Austen love story in such a way to make it fresh and fun! Megan is down to earth and the complete opposite of all the other debutantes. She is what made this book so enjoyable.

I'm rating The Season a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. I could see this story become a movie and not just the Hallmark kind either but with major Hollywood actors and everything.

Once Upon a Moonlit Night by Elizabeth Hoyt

Once Upon a Moonlit Night (Maiden Lane, #10.5)Once Upon a Moonlit Night by Elizabeth Hoyt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Such a beautiful cover and sweet novella! I liked how this story ties into The Duke of Sin novel. Hippolyta is running away from Val (Duke of Sin) and comes across Matthew, an earl who just came back to England after an expedition through India. I like how he refuses to believe she's an heiress. He even talks to her as if she's from a lower class until they run into her father LOL! That was my favorite part of the story :)

ONCE UPON A MOONLIT NIGHT by Elizabeth Hoyt (July 5, 2016; Forever Yours Ebook; A Maiden Lane Series Novella)

From New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Hoyt comes a delightful Maiden Lane novella that begins once upon a moonlit night---and ends wickedly, wonderfully ever after . . .

Hippolyta Royle is running for her life. Pursued by hounds on a cold rainy night, the heiress flags down a passing carriage and throws herself at the mercy of the coach's occupant. Whoever this handsome traveler may be, he is her only hope to escape a terrible fate. But should he agree to escort her to safety, he's in for much more than he bargained for . . .

At first Matthew Mortimer doesn't believe Hippolyta's story, that she's a fabulously wealthy heiress who's been kidnapped. He assumes she's a beggar, an actress, or worse. But once his new travel companion washes the mud from her surprisingly lovely face, and they share a breathtaking kiss, there is no turning back . . .

Review of Within the Veil by Brandy Vallance

Within the VeilWithin the Veil by Brandy Vallance
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The cover is absolutely stunning! It's vibrant and colorful just like the main character Feya. The historical accuracy is spot on. I can tell the author did extensive research. The reader gets a rare treat - to meet Robert Louis Stevenson!!

Brought to the edge of starvation, Feya is willing to steal the crown jewels for her young siblings. With gypsy blood in her soul and fire in her heart, she is a force to be reckoned with. Alasdair however is the character who I feel has grown the most through the story. In the beginning he was like a younger version of his overbearing father. After meeting Feya and the adventures they share, he finds his true self.

I'm rating Within the Veil a 5 out of 5 stars. The author had me worried to the very end. I was so scared that Feya and Alasdair wouldn't end up together. The author had me on the edge of my seat through the last chapter. Let me say I am not disappointed at all and love the ending :)

Review of Forever and Always by E.L. Todd

Forever and Always is book 2 in the Forever and Always series. Can you guess who's back...Penelope. Whomp whomp whomp :(  This time with big news that could tear apart Sean and Scarlet for good.

Sean and Scarlet are ultimately tested in this book not just in their relationship but also what they want to do with their lives.   We see Sean in New York not willing to pack up and leave his job but on the west coast Scarlet is successfully running her own business.   They really want to make the relationship work.  Then when Penelope comes back I think that was the final deciding factor on it all.  Seriously all hell breaks loose!

***Spoiler alert***
Sean is an idiot for going back to Penelope. Yeah I said it!  If he just would have talked things through with Scarlet before making his decision she probably could've talked some sense into him.  I don't blame her for not wanting to take him back.   Anyways I'm happy with the way this book ended and how much Sean helped her and Ryan out in the end.

I'm rating Forever and Always a 4 out of 5 stars.  I love romances filled with drama and surprises and this book delivered! Hopefully this will be the end of Penelope - I  can't stand her if you can't already tell LOL!

Review of Tell Me Why by Nessie Wallace

Tell Me Why (The Why Series)Tell Me Why by Nessie Wallace
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This one really pulls at my heart strings! Tell Me Why is a contemporary romance that just melted my heart. Jenna not only loses her parents, but she also finds out she's pregnant at the tender age of 17. Forced to move into a foster home for the last remaining months before her 18th birthday. I can't imagine the heartbreak she has been through!

There are so many characters I have fallen in love with in this book most notably is Bryson. I think I have just found my new "book husband" - yeah he just totally skipped right over the boyfriend status LOL!! He had me at "my forever", what he said when he first met Jenna. Now I will warn you Bryson has a hot temper and will jump to the wrong conclusions sometimes but I love how protective and loving he is to Jenna and her baby. The most memorable moment is right after Jenna and Bryson confront the biological father and Bryson shares his feelings with her. That moment brought tears to my eyes!

Another character I love is Caden, the 12 year old who is separated from his other siblings and has been through several foster homes worse than the current one. The little boy never shown love until Jenna comes into his life.

There are plenty of unsavory characters that I can't stand in this story like the drunk couple that foster children and beat them. The sad reality is there are plenty of real life foster homes just like that. Then of course there's Amanda who is the psycho-b***h willing to kill for what she wants.

I'm rating Tell Me Why a 5 out of 5 stars. Just an FYI, the book takes you through the POV of both Jenna and Bryson even replaying the same scenes. At first I was confused by it but by the end I enjoyed seeing everything through each of their eyes. Tell Me Why is the 1st book in the Why series by Nessie Wallace. I can't wait to get started on the 2nd one!!
