Stolen by the Laird by Eliza Knight

Stolen by the Laird (Conquered Bride, #4)Stolen by the Laird by Eliza Knight
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Transported to the Scottish highlands where the Scottish and English are at war, Lady Guinevere and the enemy, Brody are also fighting a battle against their growing attraction to each other. In the 4th book of the Conquered Brides series, Eliza Knight writes an enticing tale that leaves the reader wanting a brute like Brody for their own!

In most of the books I read it's the females that I like the most. However in this story, Brody is my favorite. He's my new Scottish book boyfriend lol. Because of a past tragedy, he blames himself for the loss of his loved ones. I like it when the hero isn't perfect and is fighting his own demons.

I'm rating Stolen by the Laird a 5 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed reading the correspondence Brody and Guinevere shared which ignited their spark of love. The writing and dialogue is spot-on. It's not any wonder Eliza Knight is a USA Today bestselling author.

Review of Ask Me Why by Nessie Wallace

Ask Me Why (Why Series #2)Ask Me Why by Nessie Wallace
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In the 2nd book of the Why Series, the reader discovers Ramie and Bryan's love story and the hardships in their lives. They seem to be so perfect for each other. Whenever Ramie is in trouble Bryan is there to help and when he is confronted by people in his past she is there to show him love. There is no doubt they are soul mates.

Being harassed and chased by a creep, Ramie has no interest in losing her virginity to the person she is running from. Abused and beaten as a child, Bryan must learn how to heal and come to terms with the past. It leads him to reuniting with family who he lost during a time he needed them the most.

I'm rating Ask Me Why a 4 out of 5 stars. Getting to know the characters and watching them grow up from the negativity in their past makes me feel like a close friend. I was deeply saddened when reading about Bryan's past and the abuse he endured. No child should have to live in that environment.

Review of The Season by Jonah Lisa Dyer and Stephen Dyer

The SeasonThe Season by Jonah Lisa Dyer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fun read!! The Season had me howling with laughter and enjoying Megan's antics through the whole story :) The cover is really cute and playful too! Reminiscent of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, this story has a modern Texas twist to it.

As a native Texan and Dallasite I love that the story takes place in my hometown. I couldn't believe Jerry Jeff Walker's Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother song was playing at Megan's party by a chamber orchestra- can you imagine? I'd love to see that lol! Oh how I wish I would've been there.

I love the way the author adapted the classic Austen love story in such a way to make it fresh and fun! Megan is down to earth and the complete opposite of all the other debutantes. She is what made this book so enjoyable.

I'm rating The Season a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. I could see this story become a movie and not just the Hallmark kind either but with major Hollywood actors and everything.

Once Upon a Moonlit Night by Elizabeth Hoyt

Once Upon a Moonlit Night (Maiden Lane, #10.5)Once Upon a Moonlit Night by Elizabeth Hoyt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Such a beautiful cover and sweet novella! I liked how this story ties into The Duke of Sin novel. Hippolyta is running away from Val (Duke of Sin) and comes across Matthew, an earl who just came back to England after an expedition through India. I like how he refuses to believe she's an heiress. He even talks to her as if she's from a lower class until they run into her father LOL! That was my favorite part of the story :)

ONCE UPON A MOONLIT NIGHT by Elizabeth Hoyt (July 5, 2016; Forever Yours Ebook; A Maiden Lane Series Novella)

From New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Hoyt comes a delightful Maiden Lane novella that begins once upon a moonlit night---and ends wickedly, wonderfully ever after . . .

Hippolyta Royle is running for her life. Pursued by hounds on a cold rainy night, the heiress flags down a passing carriage and throws herself at the mercy of the coach's occupant. Whoever this handsome traveler may be, he is her only hope to escape a terrible fate. But should he agree to escort her to safety, he's in for much more than he bargained for . . .

At first Matthew Mortimer doesn't believe Hippolyta's story, that she's a fabulously wealthy heiress who's been kidnapped. He assumes she's a beggar, an actress, or worse. But once his new travel companion washes the mud from her surprisingly lovely face, and they share a breathtaking kiss, there is no turning back . . .

Review of Within the Veil by Brandy Vallance

Within the VeilWithin the Veil by Brandy Vallance
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The cover is absolutely stunning! It's vibrant and colorful just like the main character Feya. The historical accuracy is spot on. I can tell the author did extensive research. The reader gets a rare treat - to meet Robert Louis Stevenson!!

Brought to the edge of starvation, Feya is willing to steal the crown jewels for her young siblings. With gypsy blood in her soul and fire in her heart, she is a force to be reckoned with. Alasdair however is the character who I feel has grown the most through the story. In the beginning he was like a younger version of his overbearing father. After meeting Feya and the adventures they share, he finds his true self.

I'm rating Within the Veil a 5 out of 5 stars. The author had me worried to the very end. I was so scared that Feya and Alasdair wouldn't end up together. The author had me on the edge of my seat through the last chapter. Let me say I am not disappointed at all and love the ending :)

Review of Forever and Always by E.L. Todd

Forever and Always is book 2 in the Forever and Always series. Can you guess who's back...Penelope. Whomp whomp whomp :(  This time with big news that could tear apart Sean and Scarlet for good.

Sean and Scarlet are ultimately tested in this book not just in their relationship but also what they want to do with their lives.   We see Sean in New York not willing to pack up and leave his job but on the west coast Scarlet is successfully running her own business.   They really want to make the relationship work.  Then when Penelope comes back I think that was the final deciding factor on it all.  Seriously all hell breaks loose!

***Spoiler alert***
Sean is an idiot for going back to Penelope. Yeah I said it!  If he just would have talked things through with Scarlet before making his decision she probably could've talked some sense into him.  I don't blame her for not wanting to take him back.   Anyways I'm happy with the way this book ended and how much Sean helped her and Ryan out in the end.

I'm rating Forever and Always a 4 out of 5 stars.  I love romances filled with drama and surprises and this book delivered! Hopefully this will be the end of Penelope - I  can't stand her if you can't already tell LOL!

Review of Tell Me Why by Nessie Wallace

Tell Me Why (The Why Series)Tell Me Why by Nessie Wallace
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This one really pulls at my heart strings! Tell Me Why is a contemporary romance that just melted my heart. Jenna not only loses her parents, but she also finds out she's pregnant at the tender age of 17. Forced to move into a foster home for the last remaining months before her 18th birthday. I can't imagine the heartbreak she has been through!

There are so many characters I have fallen in love with in this book most notably is Bryson. I think I have just found my new "book husband" - yeah he just totally skipped right over the boyfriend status LOL!! He had me at "my forever", what he said when he first met Jenna. Now I will warn you Bryson has a hot temper and will jump to the wrong conclusions sometimes but I love how protective and loving he is to Jenna and her baby. The most memorable moment is right after Jenna and Bryson confront the biological father and Bryson shares his feelings with her. That moment brought tears to my eyes!

Another character I love is Caden, the 12 year old who is separated from his other siblings and has been through several foster homes worse than the current one. The little boy never shown love until Jenna comes into his life.

There are plenty of unsavory characters that I can't stand in this story like the drunk couple that foster children and beat them. The sad reality is there are plenty of real life foster homes just like that. Then of course there's Amanda who is the psycho-b***h willing to kill for what she wants.

I'm rating Tell Me Why a 5 out of 5 stars. Just an FYI, the book takes you through the POV of both Jenna and Bryson even replaying the same scenes. At first I was confused by it but by the end I enjoyed seeing everything through each of their eyes. Tell Me Why is the 1st book in the Why series by Nessie Wallace. I can't wait to get started on the 2nd one!!
